GLI ARTISTI

Adrian Chu Redmond

Adrian Chu Redmond is an internationally-acclaimed artist with a poetic eye and desire to bring energy and expression into everyday life. Drawing heavily in inspiration from colors in nature, she aims to capture fleeting moments, emotions and sensations by utilizing bold brush strokes, strong palette-knife markings and vivid hues. Finding beauty in the ordinary, Adrian uses a unique stylistic blend of realism and abstraction to express her vision of the world and bring vibrant energy to subjects and moments.

“What I enjoy most about painting is the challenge of taking simple, everyday subjects – ones that typically go unnoticed – and giving them life and energy through the use of bold, gestural strokes. I love that art is an expression without words. This continually inspires me to explore my own unique style.”

Another trademark and nod to her heritage, Adrian incorporates Chinese feng shui coins – a traditional symbol for wealth, peace, prosperity, and protection – into her work. The coins are round in external shape (representing the energy of heaven) with square holes in the center, representing the energy of the earth. Placing a single feng shui coin on the back of each of her paintings is Adrian’s way to encourage the energies of long life and good fortune for every recipient.

A lover of travel and other cultures, Adrian is involved in both local and international endeavors. She draws heavy inspiration from her experiences on the Camino de Santiago through the French Pyrenees and into Northern Spain, as well her latest in Portugal. She often exhibits in Europe; she received the Rassegna Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea International Art Award in Bologna, Italy and was the only American chosen to attend an artist-in-residency program in Peschici. Local projects include work featured at the award-winning Southeast Timbers Resort, and Adrian was honored to be chosen as one of eight artists to transform the unremarkable utility boxes of Charlotte’s South End into colorful works of art, thanks to a new public art project called Amplify the Signal. Her artwork also graces the book cover “Duress & Desire,” by Greg Jeffers.

In an exciting new venture, Adrian joined a global partnership of co-creators by partnering with Shop Vida to launch a high-quality, ethically-sourced line of products featuring a few of her top designs. Shop her collections.
